Though Im functioning right now on very little sleep (and lots of coffee), I’m still pretty jacked up.
I truly never get tired of seeing God show up. It never gets old. Especially as its crystal clearly beyond me, my personality (yeah, I know), my abilities, and any resources of my own efforts involved. Sometimes God just blesses things. Just shows up in middle of things. Sometimes to screw up “my plans” or changes the whole stinking thing. I encouraged a few people on Sunday to try something so big with God that if He soooo doesn’t show up people would question you’re sanity. That’s all good and everything to condition the heart for obediance regardless but it sure is beautiful when He shows up.
I know, I know, much of this sounds so cliche. Like the kind of stuff to read in books or from some televangelist. However, I never get tired of seeing God flat out show up! To give hope, to provide resources, to provide direction…. is a beautiful thing.
The lack of sleep part stems from the Reliance Skate crew being at our house last night for a cook out to kick off a few fun skate gatherings around Indy. It’s gonna be a fun week in the Kingdom!
Last Friday, we made another big skate trip. This time over to Ollies to Florence (Ya’ll). Good times. No broken bones or boards. Ollies is always worth the drive over.
This was one of the best trips in a long time cause now there are bunch more of us rollin together. Some through the fb group, some old friends, and always cool to make new friends to shred with too.
Already planning the next one, but we really need a video guy to roll with us. Way to much footie getting missed. Good times though… Oh, how did Jake make it in every pic?
So, I’m stoked cause in another week we are doing another skaters only road trip. Last was big time fun and like 7 dudes. This one is 15 and still counting and we are heading to a ridiculous spot in ‘Nati called Ollies. The FB group, SkateIndianais pulling together.
Another one of those times of prayer for my knees to hold out. I break a board every time I go to this place too. I think I will starve myself over the next week to drop about 15 lbs to ensure that doesn’t happen.
Made the most recent skate trip on Friday! I was reflecting on the drive and figured this is something like the 8th or 9th 1 or 2 day skate tour I’ve done over the last few years. For you newbies a skate tour is when myself and a van load full of next gen skaters grab the boards, gas up and start driving for skate parks. Today we hit 3 parks with a van of 8 guys. Above is the crew…out of the pic is me and Elijah. My board held up as did my knees/ankles! I’ve been skating off and on for the last 20 years and still have the fire in my belly to keep at it! Live long, skate fast, pray hard!
This is the second park we hit. After a stop in Florence, KY (not pictured) we headed to this park in Lawrence, IN. Unbelievable skate park for this small town. Big and small bowls, ledges, banks, rails and a shop right beside the park! Well worth the stop! Something for everyone, even for an old schooler like me. This quickly made my top 5 skate spots….
We finished off the day at Rising Sun. A brand new park in a tiny town in Southwest Indiana. My mouth was dropped as DJ shredded the half/spine! Ian watched from the park bench with a busted ankle at Rising Sun. Nick just brings BIG stuff period. Elijah took some big falls but stuck with it all day. Though Ian got busted up he gave the trip a big thumbs up! (Oh and Woohoo is the main theme of the Blur song that we rocked in the mini van on ride home)
So nothing to deep on this one, but this Friday starts fall break for all the schools around here. That means Elijah has the day off and the next week too. So check it. It looks like me, Elijah, and a van load of local high school skaters are taking off for a 1 day skate tour. A 3 skate park minimum is in force. It’s gonna be sick! My knees will hurt for 2 weeks at least but it is so worth it!
Yeah, and for Carrie & I’s 10th anniversary last week I bargained into getting a new board. She got an anniversary band and I got a new board. Works good for me. Stay tuned for pics to be posted this weekend. Pray for divine intervention on my knees, ankles, and with the weather. I will be in bliss like the song “Heaven is a Halfpipe.” Oh, and the pic above is of Elijah & I at a skatepark on vacation in Montana.
